We will review strategies and the model that helped our program increase our paired scores to become top 3 in our region. The presentation will speak about strategies used in the classroom, clerical, administrators and the whole team at SAS to encourage students to persist and for students to consider the CASAS assessment an ally. We will also discuss the use of CASAS and data to make data-based lessons and decisions.

This presentation at the CAEP Summit will focus on ESL 82 – Intermediate College ESL Reading/Writing I, a course designed to equip ELL adult learners with essential academic skills. The struggle is real! Student retention is one of the most critical challenges in adult education. When attendance is down, student progress slows, and educator frustration grows. In this session, we will explore the problem but, more importantly, seek practical solutions. Integrated Education and Training (IET) models are an important program offering that meets the needs of diverse learners.
