Participants will be provided strategies and tools that will help adult learners increase their academic preparation and employability skills within ABE, including IET, ESL, CTE, and work-based learning programs. Resources in English and Spanish will help

(IN-PERSON Only) Successful implementation of COAAPs for CAEP Agencies

EL Civics Civic Objectives and Additional Assessment Plans (COAAPs) can now be used with great success with ABE, ASE and CTE students. COAAPs are used for the instruction and assessment of real-life tasks such as completing a job application or consulting with a school counselor. CAEP agencies are encouraged to implement COAAPs in order to achieve Immigrant Integration (I-3) outcomes for ESL, ABE, ASE and CTE learners. Come learn how to help learners to achieve these outcomes.

Tips and practices to increase student retention, persistence and paired scores

We will review strategies and the model that helped our program increase our paired scores to become top 3 in our region. The presentation will speak about strategies used in the classroom, clerical, administrators and the whole team at SAS to encourage students to persist and for students to consider the CASAS assessment an ally. We will also discuss the use of CASAS and data to make data-based lessons and decisions.
