We look at some formative assessment tools that participants can use during class to help determine where students are and how to help learners as they work with lesson materials. We also consider using AI tools to create formative assessments. Formative assessment tools include poll and survey tools, tools to present and assess simultaneously, classic tools like Kahoot and Quizlet, and exit tickets. Attendees will practice and understand how to use these tools in the classroom.

Apple Valley Adult School in Collaboration with Victor Valley College has increased enrollments and outcomes for both institutions. We took a look at students' needs and were able to increase ESL and CTE programs for our students. Facilities use agreements and data sharing have helped both programs to grow and build capacity.

Supporting new CTE instructors is crucial for their success and the success of their students. How Can teachers ensure that the knowledge and skill/s from the CCRS reading standards are explicitly taught and integrated with a text? This session will introduce participants to a generic reading lesson plan in which teachers can collaboratively design a lesson and apply it to any CCRS Reading Anchor Standard with any text. This integration leads to specific evidence of student learning and helps generate evidence-based instructional approaches and practices.
