EL Civics Civic Objectives and Additional Assessment Plans (COAAPs) can now be used with great success with ABE, ASE and CTE students. COAAPs are used for the instruction and assessment of real-life tasks such as completing a job application or consulting with a school counselor. CAEP agencies are encouraged to implement COAAPs in order to achieve Immigrant Integration (I-3) outcomes for ESL, ABE, ASE and CTE learners. North Orange Continuing Education's (NOCE) Research team explores time to completion for noncredit programs. They will share their methodology and preliminary findings on an exploration of time to completion for noncredit high school diplomas and certificates. Participants will learn about the unique challenges of noncredit pathways and their impact on time to completion including topics such as course repeatability and the open entry/open exit nature of noncredit courses.

We will review strategies and the model that helped our program increase our paired scores to become top 3 in our region. The presentation will speak about strategies used in the classroom, clerical, administrators and the whole team at SAS to encourage students to persist and for students to consider the CASAS assessment an ally. We look at some formative assessment tools that participants can use during class to help determine where students are and how to help learners as they work with lesson materials. We also consider using AI tools to create formative assessments. Formative assessment tools include poll and survey tools, tools to present and assess simultaneously, classic tools like Kahoot and Quizlet, and exit tickets.
