The struggle is real! Student retention is one of the most critical challenges in adult education. When attendance is down, student progress slows, and educator frustration grows. In this session, we will explore the problem but, more importantly, seek practical solutions. Utilizing the innovative research and hands-on experimentation of adult educators across the country, teachers and administrators will gain applicable learning strategies and engagement activities to keep students coming back.

This proposal showcases the collaborative efforts between the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) and the San Diego College of Continuing Education (SDCCE) in fostering inter-agency transitions. The presentation focuses on the development and utilization of data dashboards to track inter-agency transitions from the SDUSD Adult High School Diploma Program to SDCCE noncredit college programs.

The California Conservation Corps is a State government run workforce development program offering paid training for young adults interested in careers focused on conserving our environment and mitigating the impacts of climate change. The only requirement to enroll is motivation for hard work, personal development, and public service. Learn how your adult learner can transition to $33,000 plus $8,000 in scholarships their first year.

Our luncheon program will commence with the inspiring journeys of Angeline Guzman and Ana Laura Romo from Norwalk-La Mirada Adult School. Each year, OTAN recognizes adult learners nominated by adult educators and staff across California. We look forward to celebrating these two with this prestigious award.
